The IEEE SMU Robotics and Automation Society Student Branch Chapter was officially launched in March 2022, with the aim of learning and educating about Robotics and Automation theories, technologies, projects, etc.

Our activities mainly include technical workshops and sessions to help develop the technical skills of our student members to implement these skills in projects later and build robots.

The IEEE SMU Computer Society Student Branch Chapter was officially launched in March 2022 as well, to advance the technical skills of our student members in computer science-related technologies and fields, including Competitive Programming, Data Science, Web Development, Game Development, etc.

Our activities mainly include technical workshops and sessions in the mentioned areas of interest, as well as competitions and hackathons that aim to test and implement these skills, all while making a change and generating ideas that leverage technology.

The IEEE SMU Women In Engineering Affinity Group was officially launched in May 2023. We envision a vibrant community of IEEE women and men collectively using their diverse talents to innovate for the benefit of humanity. Our activities not only focus on technical aspects but also on soft skills, besides the humanitarian aspect.

The IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) is a global network of IEEE members and volunteers dedicated to promoting women engineers and scientists and inspiring girls around the world to follow their academic interests in a career in engineering and science.

Who is it targeted for? Young women, high schoolers, women in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) field, and women in technical disciplines on campus.

The IEEE SMU Power & Energy Society Student Branch Chapter was officially launched in May 2024.

The IEEE Power and Energy Society (PES) is the leading non-profit organization, driven by volunteers worldwide with a mission to be the leading provider of scientific and engineering information on electric power and energy for the betterment of society.

IEEE PES targets students in the field of electrical power and energy which includes electrical engineering, power systems engineering, energy management engineering, and any related engineering fields.

The IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society Student Branch Chapter was launched in September 2024.

Its primary goal is to explore and promote cutting-edge technologies, research, and applications in biomedical engineering, with a focus on improving healthcare and human well-being.

The IEEE Industry Applications Society SMU Student Branch Chapter was launched in september 2024

IAS is a dynamic community dedicated to advancing the knowledge and application of electrical and electronic engineering in industrial and commercial settings. Established to bridge the gap between academia and industry, the chapter focuses on areas such as power systems, industrial automation, renewable energy, and smart grid technologies. Through a variety of activities, including technical workshops, seminars, guest lectures, and hands-on projects, the IAS chapter empowers students to develop practical skills and innovative solutions for real-world industrial challenges.
