Creathon 1.0

Creathon 1.0 is a first-of-its-kind Game Development 48-hour Hackathon where teams worked on ideating and implementing Video Games that serve a social purpose or that reflect on and represent the Tunisian culture.

It was an opportunity open to young creators and entrepreneurs, with the guidance of experts and mentors, to work in teams, ideate and imagine new concepts, and connect with professionals and experts in video game development. Teams competed to earn interesting cash prizes, prizes offered by several incubation and coworking partners, and a possibility to secure a spot in the 14-week Makers Factory incubation cohort#2.

TECHHACK

TECHACK is a sustainability hackathon, organized by the IEEE SMU CS Student Branch Chapter and the Microsoft Student Club SMU, and powered by INSOMEA and MICROSOFT.

For 24 hours, teams of student engineers gathered at SMU to brainstorm and implement project ideas revolving around Foodtech, Agritech, and Energy sustainability, all while leveraging Data Science tools.

TASK-ORIENTED LINE FOLLOWER BOOTCAMP

Task-oriented line follower Bootcamp is the first checkpoint in our roadmap. Our members used the skills acquired throughout the previous workshops to build a line follower robot in 3 days.

Hacklexia

Hacklexia is a competition dedicated to engineering and speech therapy students to help people suffering from dyslexia using technology: by generating technological ideas to help these people with their everyday lives. Therefore, Leo Club Marsa Les Etoiles LME, in collaboration with IEEE SMU Student Branch Computer Society Chapter, organize this competition in which everyone can participate. The contest is simple and its goal is to improve technology for people who suffer from DYSLEXIA. The teams presented their ideas to a jury of experts. The competition took place on the 12th, 13th, and 14th of March 2022, at the South Mediterranean University (MSB-MedTech). For the first two days, teams gathered to attend conferences, and workshops, and work in groups on their ideas. The third day was the pitching day, and the winning teams qualified for interesting cash prizes.

IEEE RAS SMU Inauguration Conference

To celebrate the launch of the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society Chapter, we threw a small opening ceremony through which we were able to share our roadmap and promote our vision of RAS within the IEEE SMU. An open panel was also held to discuss robotics and the robot revolution.
